James DeBoar is a Year 12 student with a passion for social justice. he has researched web communities and social networking to aid social justice and has a particular interest in third world poverty and child health. He developed a subject for his year 12 studies that included speaking at TEDxAdelaide and developing a website called y-mad.com. This website contains resources for Australian high school students to help them get involved in volunteering, social justice and anti-poverty projects.About TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
