TEDxPhoenixville - Paul Deegan - The Benefits of Risk

Expedition leader Paul Deegan proposes that in today's risk-adverse society, the habit of taking a risk -- even a small one -- needs to begin in childhood. At the age of 18, Paul co-led a 47-strong expedition to clean up three decades of rubbish at Everest Base Camp. Since then, Paul has led an expedition to a previously unexplored mountain range in Central Asia, worked with scientists on the frozen Arctic Ocean, and made three attempts to reach the summit of Everest.
