TEDxFullerton - John Crawford - Embodied Media in Performance

Through artistic inquiry and technology development, intermedia artist John Crawford explores how environments augmented by computer and communications technology can support the performing arts. In the Embodied Media & Performance Technology Lab (emptLab for short), Crawford works with artists, scientists and scholars to develop new digital media technologies integrated with dance, music and theatre. Rather than restricting human-computer interaction to a screen on a desktop with keyboard and mouse, this research envisions real-world performative environments that foster real-time interactions between people and computing technology, incorporating digital media with movement, music and other forms of dynamic expression. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
