TEDxBratislava - Mária Bieliková - Why science needs art and art needs science

Professor at FIIT STU in Bratislava, vice-dean for research and human resources. Her students harvest awards in various creative competitions. In 2005, she became one of the youngest professors in Slovakia, in the field of software and information systems. A researcher, teacher and enthusiastic photographer. She claims she has evidence on why students of informatics should be interested in arts and why arts students should study mathematics. Most probably, she is right, since her students win one creative competition after another. The applications of IT in education are immense, but the human approach and the presence of a real human teacher are hardly replaceable. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
