Jane Hill is a UVM professor at the School of Engineering and is an environmental engineer whose work focuses on the characterization, prediction and impact of microbial activity in the natural and human body environments. The title of Dr. Hills TEDx talk is "The Lake in Bloom" and will speak to an environmental issue that many people in our area are well aware of. In any watershed the management of resources and waste is a universal challenge, and this presentation will take a look at some of issues confronting lake systems: from the watershed-scale right down to what is happening on the grains of sediment. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
