Jerry Tessendorf is a Principal Graphics Scientist at Rhythm and Hues Studios, where he is also the technical lead for FX and simulation software development. He shared with three other members of Rhythm and Hues in 2008 a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the custom fluid dynamics tools developed within the studio. In addition to general 3D fluid dynamics, Jerry also develops algorithms and software for water surface dynamics, volume enhancement techniques, volume rendering, geometry tracking and texturing, and coupling of dynamical systems. These tools are in production use everyday across all shows in the studio. Jerry works closely with the artists and Technical Directors in the studio daily, and periodically gives seminars on the use of and theory behind these tools. The first TEDxConejo was held on March 27, 2010 at the Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks, Ca. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
