Student and professional artist Hogan Fulton performs at TEDxConejo Hogan Fulton is a freshman at Thousand Oaks High School. He has been dancing since the age of five and has trained in styles of dance including jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet, and contemporary. At the age of seven, he began competing as a member of the Expression Dance Company at Bobbies School of Performing Arts and continues to take dance classes there during the week. In the last four years, he has studied ballet at California Dance Theatre while performing in many of their productions through Pacific Festival Ballet including The Nutcracker, The Secret Garden, The Sea Princess, and the upcoming original production of Noahs Ark.? Hogan also enjoys singing and is involved in theatre. He has performed in local shows such as The Music Man (Cabrillo), The Sound of Music, Pepitos Story (Debbie Allens Dance Academy), and 7th and Schwartz. Hogan had the unique opportunity of traveling to Sydney and London two summers ago to train for and perform as Billy in the London West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical for seven months. The first-ever TEDxConejo Conference, a one-day locally organized gathering of renowned thinkers and doers produced in association with the Conejo Valley Unified School District, brought a diverse line-up of speakers to the Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Center on March 27, 2010. The conference is built on the model and under license from the TED Conference, an annual gathering of some of the worlds most fascinating and influential people. This local edition, brings together some of the leading minds in the area to share ideas, insight and discussion. The program features talks, ranging in length from 3 to 18 minutes, and conversation breaks where audience members and speakers have the opportunity to talk and exchange ideas. In addition to the internationally recognized presenters, the organizers have identified several outstanding area students who will speak or perform. The daylong program was organized around the theme, Whats The Big Idea, and is divided into three sessions: Thinking, Doing, and Seeing. Topics covered included the neuroscience of beliefs, innovations and discoveries in medicine and healthcare, the principles of meaningful enterprise, new ideas in education, effective communication, computer science and art, microfinance, psychology, human perception and music. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
