TEDxMalmoe - Patrick O'Casey - 02/02/10

Visual Effects Artist and Serial Entrepreneur Patrick OCasey, is born a storyteller, just like the rest of us. Unlike most others, he admits to it. This might in fact be his only talent. He started off by not having any experience in Game Design and took a job as a Game Designer in Edinburgh. He then moved up to project management within IT, something that hed never done before. Thanks to something that we lovingly remember as: The Bubble, he made quite a bit of money there. He then moved on to working on the Lord of the Rings movies, without any shred of experience in the field. Then for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to blow all his cash and future chances of credit on an indie movie production in Sweden. At least it was a failure spectacular enough to warrant a documentary about it. Being destitute, depressed and shamed to tears, he decided that maybe it would be a good idea to learn a trade and get some business skills. A few years later hes working with Blockbuster Hollywood movies and starting ventures left and right. Its amazing what a little education and a lot of hard work and humiliation can do for you. Hes promised his loved ones that in one year hell learn how to take it easy. Two years on the outside. Speech Curing depression and organizing the extelligence of the Storytelling Ape. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
