TEDxColumbus - Chrystie Hill - 10/20/09

Community: its the new content. In an age where content can be stored in many formats and carried around in our pockets, library services are shifting to accommodate new users needs and preferences. But Ohios libraries just took a huge cut in the recent state budget. So it made us wonder, what is their future? We know libraries are best known for collecting, archiving, storing, and providing access to books and other printed materials. But social aspects of information service delivery take precedence in this shift, and as Ms. Hill will outline and argue in her talk, the library still continues to perform its core function: community-oriented services that meet real needs. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
