http://www,RustyJohnson.tv My name is Rusty Johnson. I am an explorer, wildlife handler, and aspiring filmmaker. My life has taken me on many wild adventures through Africa, the West Indies, and even the Amazon Jungle. Famed Director Werner Herzog once said "The Jungle is a place of fever dreams. It Is the place of magnificent stories that are bigger than our wildest fantasies." I feel very comfortable in a place like this and fell in love with Amazon the very moment my boots touched the ground. But my first time to the Amazon did not end very pretty. I was bitten by a bug that injected eggs into my finger. For a year and a half tiny worms would hatch from under my skin and bore their way out. Every doctor I visited was baffled. Eventually, I felt that the only way to cure this was to returned to the jungle, so I did. When I arrived I soon encountered an elderly shaman named Pashkita, She is said to be 90 years old, yet does not look a day over 60. She treated me, and I was cured within the week. Since then, I have had the great pleasure of getting to know this wonderful woman yet I am haunted by the fact that one day, she will die. And not only will we lose the last of a dying breed of people, we will also lose 90 years of the intimate knowledge she has of the jungle and its power to heal. I want to film a documentary about her unique life and the vast knowledge she has of the jungle's healing power before it is lost forever. Even the U.S. National Cancer Institute has identified 3000 plants that are active against cancer cells. 70% of these plants are found in the rainforest. And twenty-five percent of the active ingredients in today's cancer-fighting drugs come from organisms found only in the rainforest I would now like to introduce you to Pashkita, I hope she captures your soul as much as she has done mine and you join me in making this captivating and vital film production possible. Thank you.
