Asian Art Museum Curator, Joseph Chang, reads Self-composed Poems in semicursive script, by Wen Zhengming (1470-1559), 1545. Translation: "Sitting up at Night": "A faint breeze blows, spontaneously, / The autumnal colors resting on the bathhouse. / At sunrise, my four eaves still. / After the rain, midnight cools." (Just the first four lines of the poem). This work will be on view at the Asian Art Museum as part of the exhibition, "Out of Character: Decoding Chinese Calligraphy" (from October 5, 2012--January 13, 2013).
