Lowe's Robert Niblock on Giving Back to Communities and Employees

Lowe's CEO and Chairman Robert Niblock talks about Lowe's commitment as a leader for customers, employees and the community. Lowe's has introduced innovative employee benefits to create a healthier workforce and fight rising healthcare costs. Lowe's has partnered with the Cleveland Clinic, the nation's top cardiac care hospital, to provide free heart surgery to all eligible full-time Lowe's employees and their dependents. Lowe's also launched a national health screening tour that sends mobile health screening buses across the country to provide free screenings to more the 75,000 Lowe's employees. With the support of Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation and non-profit partners, Lowe's completed more than 3,000 public education and community improvement projects in 2010. Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant program has expanded the company's commitment to K-12 education. This program has contributed more than $4 million to improve nearly 1,000 schools in all 50 states. Lowe's Heroes teamed with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together to deliver safe and affordable housing to local families in every state. They were also some of the first to respond to local disasters, ranging from tornadoes in Ohio to floods in Tennessee. Lowe's remains focused on helping customers make environmentally responsible choices. This commitment helped Lowe's receive unprecedented honors from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy. Recycling centers were also installed in nearly 1,700 stores.
