Nothing captures the beauty of the outdoors like stone. So bring the beauty into your home by making a stone veneer wall. For this project you will need: a measuring tape, hammer, small pry bar, screwdriver, box extender, felt paper, metal lath, galvanized nails, and type S mortar mix, mortaring trowels and tin sheet cutters. First you will need to measure the wall for the amount of materials you will need. Take the total square footage of the wall and subtract the square footage of doors/windows to get the final square footage. Remove the trim on the wall. Prep the wall by removing any wallpaper or repairing any holes. Next you will need to create a moisture barrier using the felt paper. Overlap each piece about 4 inches and nail into place. Cut any excess off. Attach the metal lath. The lath should overlap about 6 inches. Drive the nails into the wall studs. Using a bucket, mix your mortar. Apply the mortar to the walls about a half inch or 3/4 on the walls. Using a notched trowel, create grooves in the mortar. Finally before you can move any further, you will need to wait for the mortar to dry, typically about 48 hours. For the next steps watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OAd5n4cyqg.
