Window blinds are an easy way to give your home, privacy, personality and even help control the light. In this video, you will learn how to install horizontal window blinds. For this project you will need window blinds, driver with bits, screw driver, tape measure and a level. These blinds will be outside mounted, meaning they will be installed on the molding of the window. You can install blinds on the wall if needed using extension brackets to clear the molding. To begin, hang the blinds, and mark on the left and right sides where the mounting brackets will go. The mark should be about a 1/4" from the edge of the molding. Hold the mounting bracket in place, using a pencil, mark the 4 holes to be drilled. Pre-drill the holes. If you are mounting into the molding, you will need wall anchors. Hold the bracket in place, and insert the screws. Make sure the brackets are level. Insert the blinds into the mounts. Attach the valence, and the mount returns to the sides. These will not be needed for inside mounted blinds. Attach any end caps to the blinds. Blinds are required to have safety stops on the cords. Measure 1"-2" from the top when the blind is at its longest length, and tie. It is important to also clean the blinds periodically. Using a damp cloth or lemon oil, wipe down the blinds. The installation is now complete. Finish by hanging the other blinds around your home, and you are done!
