Adam Simon and The "Boiler"
James Kalm makes a parenthetical tour focusing on a couple of exhibitions located at the margins of Williamsburg. Adam Simon has been an artistic force in Williamsburg since founding 4 Walls in the early 1990s. This show at Pocket Utopia features paintings and an installation of stencils collected over a period of 15 years. Across the Berg, viewers are brought along for the debut exhibition of Boiler a new project space developed by Pierogis Joe Amrhein. Despite the economic downturn, Amrhein believes that conditions cried out for the creation of a space that could accommodate the kinds of ambitious projects that put Williamsburg on the map. Jonathan Schippers 215 Points of View, JFK a twenty foot painting by Yoon Lee and Arctic Ice Project by Tavares Strachan are examples of the large scale pieces that the Boiler will host. Featuring interviews with Adam Simon, Jonathan Schipper and Joe Amrhein.
