On September 25, 2010, artist Marie Watt (Seneca) led a sewing circle at the National Museum of the American Indian, inviting visitors to help stitch an artwork in progress. Community is an integral part of Watt's work, which addresses the personal and collective memories embodied in wool blankets and other everyday objects. Watt's work is featured in "Vantage Point: The Contemporary Native Art Collection," on view through August 7, 2011.
