Air Force deploys NSW Urban Search and Rescue Team for exercise

Air Force has assisted in deploying a 72-person task force, led by Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW), for a three-day International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) external classification exercise. Up to 22 tonnes of equipment, along with personnel and search and rescue dogs, were deployed by an Air Force C-130J from RAAF Base Richmond to Amberley for the exercise. The task force will seek an accreditation from the United Nations in urban search and rescue during the exercise, which will feature a series of assessments across a range of simulated tasks that they might encounter in the field following an earthquake or other disaster.
