Royal Australian Air Force Airman's CodeAirman's Code BackgroundIn early 2008, a series of focus groups were held across Air Force to discuss Air Force identity - that sense of what is important to us about being a member of the Air Force, an Airman. The focus groups identified a number of key themes that were important to our identity: recognising and valuing our history and traditions; our professionalism and connection to the delivery of air power; being a part of something bigger than ourselves...the Air Force 'family'; that sense of serving our community and our nation; and being valued and recognised by that community. These themes have been built into the Code so that it can be a message and a reminder to all about what it means to be an Australian Airman. The focus groups also assisted greatly in developing the words of the Code with some fantastic lines being suggested and incorporated into the final version.
