My favorite music to play is Speed Metal. So, I was wondering if you could do a video about the rhythm guitars super-fast speed picking that the guys do in this style. And, also speak of the way the rhythm riffs are composed. Just to help you to understand what I mean, I'm mainly into the older American bands like Slayer, Exodus and Razor. Hope you can help me out.Bernie -- NorwayA: Speed metal is certainly one of those styles where the picking hand has to be able to shred-out at extreme speeds. You'll mostly be playing a ton of sixteenth-notes at around 140 b.p.m., (and above), so a top-notch picking hand needs to be developed to attain this crucial technique. As well, the compositions are pretty much 100% in minor keys, so you'll need to understand those minor key concepts and they also utilize a good deal of diminished intervals as well, so that factor is another important element to fully comprehend with Speed Metal.
