GO TO: Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I am just getting heavy into Memphis guitar sounds. Steve Cropper is my favorite player for this style. I was wondering if you could do a lesson covering how the players in this style smoothly combine funky blues rhythms & licks. This seems like the main backbone to the style, but I'm having trouble combining the lead & rhythm together. Daniel -- San Antonio A: Memphis style has a few attributes that are very unique. Most notable are the two and three note licks that get added in around the rhythms. There are also technical ideas with string dampening, bends and slides that are vital to learn with this style as well.
