Can you cover the thumb in the bass finger picking techniques found in classic Folk Ballads. - Kurt, Pine Bluff, Arkansas A: In this video we will be looking at one of my favorite ways of picking a slow ballad and that is by using a swing feel, applying a repeating treble line with index & middle fingers, accompanied by the thumb playing different bass patterns (that can be adjusted) to match the melody being sung.
