Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I consider myself a struggling beginner and my background is country and classic rock. I really love that finger-style with a flat-pick technique some players use. I think the sound of that snap with the not too distorted guitar tone is just too cool. Any chance you could do a video on using the mixed pick and fingers technique at a beginners level for the classic rock/country players out there like me? - Buddy, Lansing, MI. A: The technique you're talking about is most often referred to as Hybrid Picking style. This involves the use of both pick and fingers together while playing either guitar rhythm parts or melody lines. I did do a video around a year ago that covered Hybrid picking in detail, so for some extra information on this subject be sure to watch that video too: Comping & Hybrid Picking: The complete lesson article for this video will be available on the Creative Guitar Studio website shortly.
