Dan Rather on the Dangers of War Reporting in Somalia
Dan Rather begins his career in 1950 as an Associated Press reporter in Huntsville, Texas. He joins CBS News in 1962. Rather's war coverage includes Vietnam, Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf and Yugoslavia. In 1981, he becomes anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News." Rather also anchors "48 Hours" and is a correspondent for "60 Minutes II." His latest book is "The American Dream: Stories from the Heart of Our Nation."
