Original song "If I was a machine" by danbergam

Original folk song - If I was a machine I composed this a few days after "Like a seagull", back in september 1998, right in front of the sea. It's a portrait in music of the inner, desolate places I used to be years ago: never happy with myself, always desperately searching for a love coming from the outside... when I rather needed to first discover the love of God in me... Because of technological difficulties I could not record me while both playing and singing at the same time: it seems to me that the result is quite good anyway. Enjoy... and feel free to let know your opinion! ^_^ MyFreeCopyright certificate: http://www.myfreecopyright.com/registered_mcn/CUYXF_S827Y_BMH7K IF I WAS A MACHINE Words and music by Daniele Bergamini a.k.a. danbergam (c) Daniele Bergamini All rights reserved. [Intro] G C D G C D [Verse] G C D G C D [Bridge] Em Am [Chorus] Bm7 C7 ... Bm7 Am7 - Em Em7 Em/A7 Em Em7 Em/A7 [Verse] In a town far from here lives a man-like machine TV told is not too different from a man, from you and me! [Bridge] If I was a machine... maybe... [Chorus] I would not have a mind / making understand this wasted times I would not have a breath / breaking when I can't believe my eyes I would not ear people judge / every sin from the sinner I would not view people run / to their ruin with those smiles I would not have a life / to spend, from which be spent [Verse] In that town far from here lives that man-like machine TV told it had a failure in its electronic deeps [Bridge] If I was a machine... maybe... [Chorus] I would not have a flesh / causing pain when falls the rain I would not have a skin / for which feel myself ashamed I would not have a heart / beating faster for the fear I would not have a mouth / telling things for which apologize with all I would not have a pride / forcing me to raise myself again [Verse] In that town far from here died that man-like machine TV told the failure was too big for technicians to repair [Bridge] If I was a machine... maybe... [Chorus] I would not have a past / giving tears and remorses I would not have a present / lived doing so much mistakes I would not have a future / causing me to vainly hope I would not know days and nights / making feel the grind of living I would not have a soul / trapped down here, in these mortal things [Verse] In that town far from here died that man-like machine TV told it closed its eyes without passions or emotions After many days and days like the first, so the others Without fear of Sister Death 'cause it never had a life [Bridge] What a misery, what a sadness... maybe... [Chorus] I wouldn't want to be a machine / 'cause tomorrow may be different I wouldn't want to be a machine / 'cause the bad can turn to good I wouldn't want to be a machine / to reveal most secret Beauty I wouldn't want to be a machine / for Sea giving birth to Sun I wouldn't want to be a machine / for a kiss... for a caress... [Verse] Maybe I know what was happened to that man-like machine One inserted "love" and "woman" in the instructions of its program Then it was re-set to On and it started look around Searching for a formulation which revealed the Almighty One Trying to enjoy and feel those targets Only finding to be cold inside [Bridge] What a mess, what a shock... obviously... [Chorus] 0 and 1 are too poor / to exprimate so much Grace So the fantasy and the wonder / cannot fit a human fake So the circuits and the current / cannot sacrifice any blood So the processors and devices / cannot offer you a shoulder And the input, so the output / cannot give you any answer [Verse] In that town far from here lives a man-like machine TV told it was assembled like the previous, like the first (one which died before) Only a change was actuated: certain words are now forbidden Only "walk", "stop" and "work", are now known and understood [Bridge] What a coldness, what a not-life... definitely... [Chorus] I don't want to be a machine / to learn something new, everyday I don't want to be a machine / for the right to make a choice I don't want to be a machine / to fly up with my mind I don't want to be a machine / to be loved, just a day For a passion, for a thought / I just wanna be human... Again!!!
