May 2, 2008. Me and my family headed to the christian catholic Cathedral of St Peter in my town, Bologna. Those were the last days for to see, in the town, an icon of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus that is said, by the popular tradition, to have saved the town of Bologna, in the spring of the year 1433, from a period of excessive raining that would have ruined the harvest. This icon is usually kept in the Santuary of Saint Luke, on the hills south of Bologna. The Cathedral itself is full of beautiful pieces of art, including works by Alfonso Lombardi, Donato Creti, Marcantonio Franceschini, Fontana, Ludovico Carracci, and Alessandro Tiarini. If you want to know a bit more about this church and its art, feel free to visit the following pages: http://www.bologna.chiesacattolica.it/cattedrale/index2.php http://iat.comune.bologna.it/IAT/IAT.nsf/0cf4445e25a35c5dc1256e6a004f5ad1/bf4bdae6fb361948c1257076004be6fc?OpenDocument http://guides.travelchannel.com/bologna/attractions/sightseeing/attractions-landmarks/113027.html Thank you for watching, commenting and rating! :-) Baroquely yours Daniele
