By allowing there to be space between these loud and quiet parts you will experience better translation when playing back your tracks across multiple formats like earbuds, car stereos, venues and professional live sound rigs. In this video learn how to use the Detect Loudness function within PreSonus Studio One 2 Professional to help you calculate the dynamic range of an audio file as well as give you an overview of the loudest Peak and RMS levels. To find the dynamic range of an audio file: 1. Right click in the Track Column and choose "Import File...". 2. Choose the file(s) you wish to import and click OK. 3. Right click on a file within the Track Lane and choose "Detect Loudness". 4. Expand the Loudness Information section above the Master Device Rack to learn the dynamic range of?the selected track. The average dynamic range of an audio production has changed as technologies develop and allow for more headroom. This means our mixes today are much louder than before. As a general guideline it's a good idea to keep a minimum of 6 to 8 dB of dynamic range depending on the genre of music and what the production calls for.
