Video: Social Franchising and Health

On April 11th we discussed the use of the social franchise model to strengthen the private sector?s delivery of health care services, with a particular focus on the role of private sector social franchising in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in developing countries. Panelist Rebecca Firestone of PSI discussed the NCD disease burden in developing countries, followed by Nikki Charman of PSI and Gina Lagomarsino of Results for Development, who shared examples of how the social franchise model is currently used to address reproductive health and maternal and child health and assess whether that innovative model could be expanded to address NCDs in low resource settings.
