Summer is here, and that means it's time for group shows. Provocative painter, Joe Bradley, scans his history books and culls some of the most intriguing yet little known figurative works from the last fifty years. Your correspondent has recently reported on a revived interest in a group of artists working in New York in the mid 1950s who were challenging the hegemony of Abstract Expressionism and the New York school. Bob Thompson, Lester Johnson and Leon Golub all figure prominently within this movement, with Joan Brown being a West Coast contemporary. Works by current artists include: Keith Mayerson, Dan Colen, Carroll Dunham and Jason Fox are also on view.
