The Final Opening at WORK GALLERY
In the ebb and flow of the New York art scene galleries come and galleries go, and although James Kalm doesn't make every show or like all the exhibitions presented, he nonetheless admires and respects the commitment and sacrifices it takes to open a gallery. The Work Gallery in Red Hook Brooklyn is an example of the DIY spirit that has motivated much of the cutting edge art that has brought this borough to international prominence. Although a tiny "red tin shack" on the waterfront, it launched the careers of several artists. Now unfortunately, the real estate market is ever changing, and creating ever greater challenges. This program documents the last opening at Work Gallery, and includes an interview with co-founder Eric Ayotte.
