Soft Machine at PACE GALLERY
Summer's swelter settles over the city, and the last batch of group shows before vacation are trotted out for the public's approval. "Soft Machine" is a good excuse for some serious art viewing and partying. Taking it's title from the 1961 novel by William S. Burroughs, these artists make works that allude to humanities pathetic struggles against authoritarian control. Provides viewers with views of works by: Kathryn Garcia, Anthony Keith Giannini, Tim Hawkinson, Liz Magic Laser, Sterling Ruby and Kiki Smith et al. Includes a glimpse of a performance by Kate Gilmore.
