The press release describes Lee Lozano as "one of the least known great artists of the New York scene of the 1960s and early 1970s." She stormed into town and worked her way through just about every progressive art movement around, starting with her own sexualized version of Pop Art, through Minimalism and finally to Conceptual Art. These works are all from the early 60s and display Lozano's quick gesture and graphic facility. The paintings relate to works being created in Post War West Germany as well on the West Coast and eventually by people like Philip Guston here in New York.
