Promotional Documentary: On the importance of the air respirator to industrial health and safety. R.1: Traces the need for a respirator throughout history with re-enacted sequences, including the British study of the death rate among coal miners beginning in 1902. R.2: Two former Bureau of Mines engineers begin the Mine Safety Appliances Company and develop a respirator which is effective and comfortable. The device is carefully tested and finally approved by the Bureau., R. 3: Explains that industry and government cooperation has removed the "menace in the air" and urges workers in various industries to use the respirator.
