MacARTHUR GETS GRID AWARD: At the annual dinner of the National Football Foundation, General Douglas MacArthur emerges from his secluded retirement to receive the Foundation's gold medal to the applause of a cheering array of gridiron immortals. GATES NEW PENTAGON CHIEF: Shortly before his departure, Ike is present as Thomas Gates is sworn in as new Secretary of Defense, succeeding the outgoing Secretary Neil McElroy. REFUGEES TORCHLIGHT PROTEST: In a solemn and dramatic protest against Red oppression in their homelands, refugees from Iron Curtain lands march by torchlight up the steps of Montmartre to the Sacre Couer church of Paris. MUSIC HALL HONORS CARY GRANT: In New York, Cary Grant receives an illuminated scroll from the world's largest theatre, the Radio City Music Hall, on the occasion of the premiere of his newest film, U-I's "OPERATION PETTICOAT," as the Christmas film of the famed showplace. SPORTS BOWLING MAKES NEWS: In Chicago, 192 top bowlers compete in the World's International Match-Game Championships.
