The original release sheet reads: MACMILLAN'S MOSCOW MISSION MUDDLED BY KHRUSHCHEV British Prime Minister Macmillan goes to Moscow hopeful of "breaking the ice" on the East-West issues. After a ten hour stretch of talks and with no hint to Macmillan, Khrushchev erupts into a blistering anti-West surprise speech in which he turned down a Western proposal for a Foreign Ministers' conference. Khrushchev wants a Summit Conference. President Eisenhower says the West won't give an inch on Berlin. The cold war is reaching zero. CYPRUS SETTLEMENT HAILED: Three years of bitter exile ends for Archbishop Makarios - leader of the Greek-Cypriots. In London he is cheered as he prepares to return to the Mediterranean Island where 508 Britons and Cypriots lost their lives in four years of civil strife. The Island is to get its independence within a year as the result of an agreement signed by British, Turkish and Greek leaders along with Makarios who will likely be the first President of the Republic of Cyprus.
