NASA's STEREO sees a solar eruption from the side

On March 19, 2010, the Sun erupted, launching a billion tons of plasma toward the Earth in an event called a coronal mass ejection. The STEREO A satellite saw this from the side, and you can see the loops of magnetized plasma as they leave the Sun at well over a million kph.
