The Snares Islands: Cradle of the Southern Ocean

http://www.mindbites.com/lesson/10482 for full video. In the midst of the stormy Southern Ocean lies a group of craggy islands named the Snares. It's one of the most unspoiled and protected places on earth. Although it is only about the size of New York's Central Park, it is home to more than 5 million seabirds. Under a canopy of giant tree-daisies Snares Crested penguins, Buller's albatross, and massive numbers of Sooty Shearwaters come to breed. We make a privileged visit to this cradle of the Southern Ocean.
