Salsa Dancing - Intro to Salsa: Cross-Body Lead InsideTurn

http://www.mindbites.com/lesson/1409-intro-to-salsa-cross-body-lead-insideturn In this lesson you will learn one of the most basic Salsa partnerwork techniques: The Cross-Body lead with an Inside Turn for the lady. Many moves in Salsa use the cross-body lead inside turn as a foundation of more intricate and advanced patterns, so it is essential to master it before moving on to more advanced moves. We recommend that you review the lesson "Cross-Body Lead" and also the Ladies' left turn in order to better prepare yourself for this lesson. This lesson includes demonstrations in the two most popular Salsa dance styles: On1 (aka "L.A. Style") and On2 (aka "New York Style"). A word about Salsa Dance Styles --------------------------------------------- L.A. style (On1) and New York style (On2) are two of the most popular Salsa dance styles around the world. In the L.A style, the leader breaks forward with his left foot on the first beat of the measure while the follower breaks back with her right foot. In the New York style, the follower breaks forward with her left foot on the second beat of the measure while the leader breaks back with his right foot. Once you feel comfortable dancing on one of these styles, you can easily translate your Salsa repertoire to the other style by following the "Timing Conversion Table" included as supplemental material with this video.
