How Kieran hopes to build on his construction skills
Kieran describes his experience of doing a construction course while still at school. By the age of 15, Kieran had attended a Skills for Work course in construction at John Wheatley College at Haghill, near Glasgow. In this video he describes is experience at college, listing joinery, plastering, roofing, bricklaying and plumbing as some of the main subjects in the course. The differences he noticed between school and college where that there's no need to wear a uniform and students can speak to lecturers using their first names. Kieran would like to follow in family footsteps and go on to do portable appliance testing and maintenance with the Showman's Guild, helping construct and fix carnival rides. He says that the plumbing and joinery skills which he learned at college would be useful for his future career. Kieran finishes by saying that he is looking forward to going out to work so that he can earn money for himself and be able to buy his own things.
