Carrie Crawford talks about her journey from work experience to a job as a welder. After leaving school she sent out over 100 job applications from her Lanarkshire home. Then Carrie got the chance of work experience near her grandparents' house in Aberdeenshire. After just three days, she was offered a Modern Apprenticeship in fabrication welding. In early 2010 Carrie and her colleagues were made redundant when their employer retired. Local firm H & F Moir were recruiting and Carrie got the job. She added more welding coding qualifications and a SVQ Level 3 to her skill set and is now welding pipework and other items for the oil and gas industry.
