Self-directed Learning and Autonomy for Tech-savvy Students

This is an address I prepared for the 2011 meeting of the Ozarks Foreign Language Association. It deals with the expanding role of technology in language teaching, including the online delivery of course content. I encourage instructors to use online resources as a means of giving students more autonomy and responsibility for their own learning. I also recommend that educators view technology usage as a way to stay relevant in the eyes of a number of key constinuencies (students, administrators, lawmakers, the public, the profession).
