Slow Motion Hummingbirds 1 HD 720p

Watch the movements of these fascinating little birds up close and slow in Hi Def! Several birds (Anna's Hummingbirds, males and females) are shown at different angles and shutter speeds. The odd bending and alternating wing movements are just an illusion caused by the camera's high speed shutter... something to do with the CMOS sensor scan rate in conjunction with the shutter movement itself. This strange effect only seems to appear when the shutter speed is cranked way up to 1/1000thsec and 1/2000sec. In reality, the wings really do move in parallel, and are fairly stiff so no detectable bending occurs. Better high speed footage can be seen in the later sequels to this show: Slow Motion Hummingbirds 5 (last half), 6, 7 and 8 (links below) 5: http://www.youtube.com/profile?annotation_id=annotation_576046&user=jcmegabyte&feature=iv#p/u/21/y0ebGWce4FY 6: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=jcmegabyte&annotation_id=annotation_537311&feature=iv#p/f/4/ek6FzjS7WGk 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6n92WeWDtE 8: http://www.youtube.com/user/jcmegabyte#p/c/DF1D8557B15407C1/1/qzLXYLXPkoE Enjoy the show! :-) Note: This is copyrighted material, however, you may download this footage directly from YouTube and use it free of charge in your own non-profit/non-commercial YouTube videos.
