Rocket and Rover Ready for Flight

NASA's next Mars rover, Curiosity, is poised atop the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket that will launch it on its way toward the Red Planet. The rover, officially known as the Mars Science Laboratory, and Atlas V were prepared for launch at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida over the past six months. The launch vehicle and spacecraft stand ready for liftoff from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 41.
