Satellite Sees Four Tropical Cyclones and Remnants Today

There are still four tropical cyclones or remnants active in the Atlantic: Katia, Lee, Maria and Nate. This animation of NOAA satellite observations from Sept. 6 at 12:15 p.m. EDT through Sept. 9 at 10:45 a.m. EDT shows Hurricane Katia near the U.S East Coast; Tropical Storm Lee's remnants over the northeastern U.S.; Tropical Storm Maria near the Lesser Antilles; and Tropical Storm Nate is expected to become a hurricane near Mexico.
