NASA's Spaceward Bound program sent dozens of middle school teachers to California State University's Desert Study Center in Zzyzx, on the edge of the barren Mojave Desert, to conduct science research in an extreme environment. Participants experienced, first-hand, NASA-related field science and will use their field work to develop experiments, demonstrations and lesson plans for their students, the next generation of space explorers.
