Learn more about the exhibition The Philippe de Montebello Years: Curators Celebrate Three Decades of Acquisitions, on view at the Met October 24, 2008 - February 1, 2009: http://www.metmuseum.org/special/philippe_de_montebello_years/splash.aspx Maxwell K. Hearn, Douglas Dillon Curator in the Department of Asian Art, talks about three masterpieces of Chinese painting in the Mets collection. During the tenure of Philippe de Montebello, the Asian Art collection grew from two galleries in 1971 to fifty galleries today, thanks in great part to the dedication of Douglas Dillon and curator Wen Fong. Organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Center for the History of Collecting in America at The Frick Collection, this event takes place in the galleries of the exhibition highlighting the works of art acquired by the Met during the directorship of Philippe de Montebello.
