One Year Later: Jihadism in Pakistan after Bin Laden's Death

The successful U.S. Navy SEAL attack on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan one year ago offended the Pakistani government and exacerbated the growing tensions between these two countries. Despite the death of bin Laden in the raid, Bruce Riedel says that today jihadism is finding fertile ground in Pakistan. Riedel says over the last decade, the U.S. has given Pakistan billions of dollars to combat jihadism: the movement has morphed but is as strong as ever while the U.S.-Pakistan relationship continues to deteriorate.
