Product Connect for Google SketchUp - Choosing a Reporting Method

Download the Product Connect plugin for Google SketchUp from http://goo.gl/VgTH9[Transcript]In this video, we'll explore some of the options for working with nested components and materials. In this project I've got the kitchen island set up as a component -- and there are a number of other components nested inside of the island, for example, the faucet, the cabinets, and the counter. Report Maker is designed to report on any Level 1, parent components that it finds in a project. If I were to Run Report maker, it would it would miss out on any of the nested components and materials. With the island selected, I'll choose Product Editor, then click the disclosure triangle to reveal the nested components, and then pick the faucet. The Reporting Method drop down is located at the top of the Product Editor window and includes 3 methods to choose from, default, force on, and force off. Here I'll set the reporting method to Force On and then save the changes. Setting the reporting method to Force On will make it so that this nested Faucet component will appear in the Plumbing Fixture schedule, no matter what. The same goes for nested materials like the material for the counter. Here I'll use the breadcrumb links at the top of the Product Editor window to back up to the island, then click the disclosure triangle next to the counter component and then choose its material. Here again, I'll set the reporting method to Force On, and save the changes, to ensure that the material shows up in the finish schedule. After closing the product editor window I can choose Report Maker, to find that both products now appear in their appropriate schedules, despite the fact that they're nested inside of the island component.
