Product Connect for Google SketchUp - Leveraging Dynamic Attributes

Download the Product Connect plugin for Google SketchUp from[Transcript]In this video, we'll take a look at a feature we've built into Product Editor, that allows you to leverage dynamic component attributes. Many of the Product Connect enabled components, such as this kitchen faucet from the Brizo catalog, utilize this feature. If I select this component and then choose Product Editor, you'll see it's got some funky attributes, for example, the Product Number is set to A:model_no. Since most of the Product Connect models we've created started out as dynamic components, we wanted to be able to leverage the existing dynamic attributes, and figured you might want to do the same -- especially since some of those attributes are... well... dynamic. So, we designed Product Editor so that you can reference a Dynamic Attribute by using the prefix A: followed by the name of that dynamic attribute. Let's say you're working with a dynamic component, like this generic double hung window by Google. This component includes a dynamic attribute called "Mat_Ext" which allows the user to choose between paint colors and woodgrains for the exterior material. The value for the exterior color is dynamic, so it changes depending on the configuration the user sets. To set this all up so that the material choice shows up as the window's "Finish" in the window schedule you can use Product Editor to set the value for the window's Finish attribute to "A:Mat_Ext". The A: prefix tell product connect to look at the dynamic attributes for an attribute called Mat_Ext, and pull the value for that attribute and plug it into the report.Download. Edit.
