The Case for Youth Savings

Are savings accounts a viable tool to spur development and financial inclusion for one of the world's most vulnerable population, low-income youth? One year ago, Save the Children, the Center for Social Development at Washington University in St Louis, the New America Foundation and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor launched the YouthSave Project in order to explore this very question. Join the YouthSave Consortium, with a special keynote by Michael Sherraden, author of the pathbreaking book "Assets and the Poor" and one of Time Magazine's 2010 100 most influential people, as they share their experiences from the first year of field work, research and analysis. The event will feature new insights and ideas on a range of topics including financial capability, the policy and regulatory environment for youth savings, the business case, and opportunities and challenges to impact research and analysis.
