A video by ESA regarding ground and space observatories. 'Using telescopes above the veil of Earth's atmosphere, space-borne astronomy has greatly increased our knowledge of the Universe. However, ground-based observatories still have a major role to play. The European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT) located at Cerro Paranal in Northern Chile is constantly pursuing observations based on results from ESA's space missions. At a height of 2600 m, the VLT is the world's highest optical observatory and one of the most powerful.' Video date- 9th July 07.
